48 percent reduction in the number of malnourished children due to the Chief Minister’s nutrition campaign
Raipur: Chief Minister Nutrition Campaign is an important campaign of Chhattisgarh government under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel towards holistic nutrition. Chief Minister Mr. Baghel has resolved that this campaign will continue till the children affected by malnutrition in the state become well-nourished. Chief Minister Suposhan Abhiyan is moving fast towards its goal and children and women in remote areas of Bastar division are getting the benefit of this campaign.
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, the Mukhyamantri Suposhan Abhiyan started for the eradication of malnutrition has yielded positive results. In the last three years, about 02 lakh 11 thousand children of the state have come out of the cycle of malnutrition. Whereas in the year 2019 at the start of this campaign, the number of malnourished children was 4 lakh 33 thousand. Thus, 48 percent reduction in the number of malnourished children is a remarkable achievement. Along with this, about 85 thousand women of the state have also become anemia free due to regular hot food and nutritious food under the scheme.
Chief Minister Suposhan Abhiyan saved Junita’s life, gave birth to a healthy baby by taking advantage of the scheme
Under the Chief Minister Suposhan Abhiyan, a program is being run to make Dantewada anemia free. Under this programme, adolescent girls, pregnant women are being screened and treated in schools, ashram premises. Anemia test of Junita, a resident of Pujari Para of Kuakonda development block of the district was done. Junita was pregnant and during the investigation it was found that she is anemic. Due to this the level of hemoglobin in the blood is less than normal 5. 6 was found. Junita was identified as a high risk pregnant woman and she was continuously followed up and after special investigation, iron and calcium tablets were given. The result of the efforts of Mukhyamantri Suposhan Abhiyan was that Junita defeated malnutrition and after 9 months gave birth to a healthy daughter in the district hospital. Today Junita and her family members are very happy that after taking benefit of the scheme run by the government, Junita has given birth to a healthy baby.
The number of malnourished children in the state is less than the national average.
It is noteworthy that on the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh had started the Suposhan Yojana in the entire state. Under this scheme, smooth operation is being done in all the districts with the aim of reducing the mortality rate of women and children. Under the scheme, malnutrition and anemia are being removed by giving free nutritious food, laddus made of groundnut and jaggery, etc. to children and pregnant and lactating mothers every day. It is noteworthy that according to National Family Survey-4, 37.7 percent children under 5 years of age in the state were malnourished, whereas according to National Family Survey-5, the percentage of malnourished children in the state has come down to 31.30, which is from the national average of 32.10 percent. is less.
